Textile Designer
Hana was born in Connecticut, USA, in 1990. She completed a Master’s degree at the Royal College of Art in London in 2014. After returning to Japan, she joined ISSEY MIYAKE Inc., where she worked as a textile designer for approximately seven years. Following her time at the company, Hana became an independent designer and began presenting her work both domestically and internationally, including exhibitions at Milan Salone and DESIGNTIDE TOKYO.
In 2024, she received the Young Designer Award, and in 2025, she was honored with the Bronze Award in the Textile Design category at the A’ Design Award. Her creative practice centers on textiles, while spanning a broad range of fields such as fashion and architectural spaces. She explores material expression through a multidisciplinary approach that combines traditional techniques with innovative, contemporary design.
Hana currently works as a part-time lecturer at Tama Art University and Tokyo Zokei University. In both her academic and professional activities, she continues to investigate the possibilities of textiles, creating work that bridges craftsmanship and modern aesthetics.
