Takahiro Shiramizu

Planner and Founder of Unagi no Nedoko

Takahiro was born in Saga Prefecture in 1985. In 2012, he founded Unagi no Nedoko, a cultural trading company that supports over 250 artisans across Kyushu. In 2015, he developed a modern version of traditional monpe pants using Kurume Kasuri fabric, collaborating with weaving regions throughout Japan to revitalize local textile industries.
With a mission to reinvigorate regional culture, Takahiro partnered with Takeover Inc. in 2024 and assumed the role of advisor at Unagi no Nedoko. He also established Hakusui Inc., a consulting company focused on regional cultural development and strategy.

Takahiro has received numerous awards, including the Good Design Award and Cultural Encouragement Prizes, and his work has been featured in exhibitions both in Japan and internationally. His approach bridges tradition and innovation, design and community, aiming to create sustainable models for cultural preservation and creative industry.

Through his various initiatives, Takahiro continues to explore new possibilities for regional economies by connecting craftsmanship, storytelling, and thoughtful design with contemporary relevance.
