Prior to the event, alter. has organized an educational program in product design titled "The Composition of the Observer," led by Creative Director Osamu Sakuma which was held from August 2025 for teenage participants.
The program explores the theme of "User's Creativity."
Much like the relationship between those who create clothing and those who wear it, the initiative considers how users of furniture and products can engage with design creativelyā€”freely and playfully, without being bound by the designer's original intent. Together with a teenage generation known for its flexibility and sensitivity, the program sought to reexamine product design through the perspective of the user's creativeness.
The display stands used in the alter. Market were designed and assembled by the students and instructors, who reconfigured pre-production furniture components into new forms. We invite you to experience these works in conjunction with the related talk program.
