Azbil has long been committed to creating spaces where people can feel comfortable, through technologies that sense and shape the relationship between people and their environment. In buildings, factories, and cities, we read invisible environmental signals such as airflow, temperature, and humidity, and enable environments to respond accordingly. This perspective lies at the core of our business. The philosophy behind "Tariki"—translating a force that belongs to no one, present in a given space, into the form of a vessel—resonates deeply with our own stance of continually questioning the relationship between people and their environment. The vast amounts of data captured through our sensing technologies hold potential not only to improve industrial and social efficiency, but also to connect with human experience, aesthetic awareness, and culture. We see our participation in this Experimental Tea Ceremony as a first step toward exploring how technology can engage with culture, enrich human experience, and open new possibilities for value.

This Experimental Tea Ceremony is an endeavor that explores new possibilities for tea culture through the shape of the vessel, the space in which one encounters tea, the time that flows within that space, and the moment of facing a single cup. Through this experience, we sense new possibilities emerging in how tea and people meet, and in the time and space that surround the act of tea. Through our participation in this project, ITO EN will share the appeal and potential of Japanese tea in new forms.

Karimoku Furniture A reciprocal relationship between object and space., Transposition Karimoku Furniture Production Team profile

Through collaborations with artists, we explore new possibilities for our long-cultivated woodworking expertise and effective wood utilization.
At the “Composition from the Viewer’s Perspective” exhibition held this past June, Nodoka Maruyama and Yoshiyasu Saito created works using factory components from Karimoku Furniture. Taking this collaboration a step further, Karimoku Furniture will handle everything from material sourcing to processing for the wood-themed works conceived by both artists following their factory tour. Instead of typical furniture timber, the materials used are domestically sourced, underutilized or unused wood. Embracing the unknown through repeated trial and error, we take on the challenge of creating experimental works.
Venturing beyond conventional manufacturing, we seek to deepen our exploration into the future of Japanese craftsmanship and forest resources, while inviting our visitors to join the reflection.
