In 2019, the company launched “beta post.” Guided by the concept of “stimulating the viewer’s thinking”—not only as fashion but also as a medium that prompts reflection on social issues—the company began initiatives that emphasize conveying a message through its products. At launch, the brand unveiled products that fused “waste and traditional crafts,” developed in collaboration with artisans from Amami Oshima. Using a new material that combines collected plastic shopping bags with silk fabric produced using techniques from authentic Oshima Tsumugi—a nationally designated traditional craft—the brand created bags and apparel. While raising questions about our mass-consumption society, the brand also engages in initiatives that contribute to the preservation of Japan’s traditional craftsmanship.
