Tim Teven (1993) is a Dutch designer working from his studio in the Netherlands, which he founded after graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2018. His practice is rooted in material experimentation, with production processes, particularly the mechanical deformation of metal, playing a central role in shaping both form and function.
Coming from a family background in blacksmithing, Teven has been surrounded by metal from an early age. This heritage informs his intuitive understanding of the material, while his approach translates it into a contemporary design context. By developing self-initiated techniques, he creates systems that allow for both variation and repetition, as seen in his ongoing Tube Collection.
Teven’s work explores the balance between control and unpredictability. Mechanical actions generate form, while hands-on craftsmanship refines the outcome. The result is a distinct aesthetic language where technical gestures and spontaneous deformation coexist.
Alongside his independent work, the studio has collaborated with brands and companies across fashion, design and architecture, including Gentle Monster, Rimowa, Stone Island, Arte and OMA.
